Consortium

 

 

The UV-MARKING consortium is formed principally by industrial partners. It covers the whole value chain of UV-laser marking with high level experienced entities. The consortium gather the principal industrial actors involved in marking: final user (BSH), laser developer (ROFIN), material and additives developers (ILVA, TORRECID, WIRTHWEIN, DATALASE), a research centre expert on both material and laser giving scientific knowledge of the laser-marking process (ICMA), and a software developer expert on industrial integration software (U-Marq). The consortium has been built searching expert enterprises on each field, and it was needed a European approach to join all of them.

ILVA Glass is a producer of glass materials with specific chemical and mechanical characteristics. In particular its range of glass material start from solar pattern glass to glass ceramic and borosilicate material. The company have been founded in Italy in 1950 and it is present in Italy, Austria, China with production plants. The total workforce is 600 employees in three plants of 74.000 sqm totally. The glass raw material is processed by glass machines in order to obtain customize final products. The production cycle start from cutting process and continue to several processes as edge grinding, water jet cutting, engraving, cnc profiling, serigraphy, tempering. The ILVA team is able to give to the customer all the information and suggests in order to define the best combination between the correct raw material and production process to be used to meet the final customer product specification.

Material Science Institute of Aragon (ICMA) is a Joint Center of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the University of Zaragoza (UZ). ICMA is divided into different research groups. Three of them are working in the project: Laser Applications Lab (LAL) group; Laser Processing of Materials group; Liquid Crystals and Polymers group.
